day 23 of 50 Ezra's Sword

Jacqueline: fragment from plastic light fitting

Amichai: For poets, the mundane is morphed into the mythic, a discarded glove in the street becomes an epic tale. For Ezra, age 3 1/2, a broken branch is a magic sword, baseball bat, wand of power. He doesn't want to let it go when it's time to leave the park. But it's a big branch, and not the safest, and boundaries are called for, and the risk of his tears to our fierce 'no'.
Sword stays in the park, but so do my sunglasses, somewhere in between the soccer and trampoline they disappear, and they're fancy, and I've had them for a while, and it's really too bad.
and sometime's the mundane is just that, no big mythic message on the loss of the sunglasses, just an extra note about caution, being more careful, present and aware. But also: don't get too attached to things, either: branch, glove, sunglasses.

Night 23, Gevura of Netzach: Disciplined Infinity; Can I keep one eye on the big picture, inner, mythic reality, and the other eye on the here and now of boundaries, discipline, careful attention to detail, perfectly present? Can I keep Ezra's wide eyed view of the world as endless source of wonder and also be the one to call a branch a branch?

Or is the branch from the Tree of Life?
